  1. Hard reset (10 to 15 seconds on the power button) and let the bike sit outdoors for a few minutes
  2. Install any pending firmware update
  3. Log out and back in to the VanMoof app
  4. Give it a few days; network-side issues clear on their own
  5. If it persists and you want tracking, an independent VanMoof-capable shop can test or replace the cartridge
Go to a dealer if: Go to a shop if the code stays for more than a week and GSM tracking matters to you.
Warranty: Warranty from the original VanMoof B.V. died with the 2023 bankruptcy; the relaunched VanMoof (LAVOIE/McLaren Applied) only covers bikes sold by them after the relaunch, so most S3/X3 owners pay for repairs.
Typical cost: Often nothing; cartridge test around EUR 50-100, replacement EUR 300-500.
Still stuck? Take a photo of the display and show it to a local e-bike workshop. Bring the bike's system name (e.g. Bosch Performance Line CX) and the exact code; that saves diagnostic time and money.
